Yakima-Ellensburg Shuttle Fares Increase
People who commute by bus between the city of Yakima and Ellensburg are going to notice a change in their fare prices.
The Yakima City Council approved a measure last night to increase shuttle fares in order to compensate for the rise in fuel costs.
A one way bus ticket between cities will increase from $3, to $4, and monthly bus passes will increase from $100 to $125.
A former transit user says no matter what form of transportation people use, they can't avoid the rise in gas prices.
"i really feel for it because--you know, it's an extra expense. However, if you're driving your own car, it's gonna cost too. I wouldn't like it myself, but i'm paying for fuel regardless if i'm driving or taking the bus," said Brian Kores.
The new shuttle prices will be effective starting september first.
