Opening Day At Fairgrounds
Its thats time of year again.
"Get your fresh elephant ears!"
Rollercoasters- darts- live music, and hundreds of people are filling the Benton Franklin County Fairgrounds for day one of the 5 day event.
Three year old Easton Hoffman is taking his first try at the carnival games.
"I got one!"
And taking home the big prize.
Easton's grandmother Mary used to take her children to the fair- and now is making new memories with her two grandkids.
"I love watching the grandkids and their reaction to everything- how they were afraid of the sheep but not the cows and im of afraid of cows!" says Mary Hoffman.
And after 56 years of marriage, Marylou and Richard Eckroth never miss an opening day.
"To see all the things that the kids do- I had a granddaughter that put a few photos in and won a few blue ribbons," says Marylou.
Whether they win a prize or not the one thing every fairgoer leaves with---is a full stomach.
Sot: The greasy food- the delicious greasy fattening food-
But some are much more lucky.
And Mary Hoffman agrees-
This is the best and only way she knows how to wrap up her summer.
" They start preschool next week so its kinda the finale of the summer."
