Lucas Miller Sentencing Postponed
Sentencing for a man convicted of sexually assaulting a young boy at a daycare center in Richland was postponed on Monday because the defense lawyer wants to try and get his client less jail time.
Lucas Miller, Kennewick, was working at Kid's World Childcare when one of the children there told his parents he was inappropriately touched.
Miller was convicted of the assault and was set for sentencing on Monday, but his lawyer asked the judge if Miller could be considered under the SOSA (Sex Offender Sentencing Alternative).
If Miller's lawyer can prove that Miller falls under SOSA, then his sentence can be reduced to up to a year instead of the standard range of 90-120 months.
Miller's lawyer would have to prove that there was some kind of relationship between Miller and the victim as opposed to a random act of assault.
That hearing is set for September 6th in Benton County Court.
