Fire damages home and church in Wapato
A Wapato family is without a home and two congregations are without a church after a fire heavily damaged the two properties yesterday.
The fires started at the home on Lincoln Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Thursday and quickly spread to the Pentecostal church.
A boy was at home when the fire started and made it out safely and then called 911.
The Red Cross has put the six people who lived at the home in a Toppenish hotel for now.
Nobody was injured by the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
