The newest addition to the Yakima Valley Libraries system opens today.

The West Lalley Community Library opened its doors this morning to dozens of children and adults who camped out overnight.

The building, located on South 72nd Avenue, is replacing the Summitview Library, which is just a few miles north.

One employee says the libraries provide a place for families to come together and enjoy literature.

"This is a wonderful place to share, we've had people sharing stories with their kids and reading stories in our childrens area all day," said Cathy Rathbone.

Construction on the library began last october, and cost about 1.8 million dollars.
