PNNL Finishes Round of Layoffs

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory just completed a round of more than 200 layoffs that began in March.

The Hanford contractor was forced to make the layoffs because of a restructuring plan from the Department of Energy.

Most of the layoffs were in the research and support staff.

More than half of the layoffs were voluntary and some spots that were vacant went unfilled.

The company prepared for the upcoming budget for fiscal year 2013 by making the layoffs, and there are no more layoffs expected at this point.
