Peach Basket Classic a win for Walla Walla
Some 295 teams, ranging from youth to adults, compete in the 19th annual Walla Walla YMCA Peach Basket Classic this weekend.
Designed around the 3-on-3 pick-up style basketball game played in athletic clubs, recreation centers or home driveways, this tournament is the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.
This year, one of the changes involves moving the tournament a few blocks down Main Street from its previous location. This allows the YMCA to keep the event in downtown Walla Walla while also freeing up access to businesses for those who want to shop.
Organizers say the event draws about 3,000 participants, their families and fans.
Money raised during the two-day event supports youth outreach programs in the Walla Walla Valley.
