Moxee Hop Festival
The city of Moxee kicks off its annual Hop Festival today.
The festival, which began in 1947, is a two day event that begins the first Friday of August.
Activities will include a 5K family walk, a parade through downtown Moxee, and fireworks in the park.
Event planners say bands from as far as Georgia and Vancouver B.C. Will be featured at the beer garden stage this year.
One event planner says the festival continues to grow rapidly every year, which is a good thing for the city.
"It introduces people to Moxee that may have never been here before, and shows community spirit, pride in our community. The fact that we've grown, and with the internet, we do draw from all over the state, and even out of state," says Stan Fourtier.
Stan Fourtier says he expects about 10,000 people to attend the festival over the next two days.
