Benton County Emergency management is warning of some potential minor flooding in the areas along the Yakima River tomorrow and Saturday. The official news release is below:

Richland, WASH: – Benton County Emergency Management is warning residents that the Yakima River is predicted to rise above flood stage by tomorrow afternoon through mid-day Saturday.

The river may crest somewhere between 13.25 and 14.25 feet on the river gauge at Benton City. The water may remain above flood stage for several days before falling.  People with property, livestock or equipment near the Yakima River should remain vigilant for possible variations in river depths and flooded areas.

During minor flooding, residents can expect to see the Yakima River spill its banks at the Beach RV Park in Benton City, at the West Richland Golf Course and along some roads north of Van Giesen in West Richland.

People living in low-lying areas along the river should move items away from the riverbank.  Livestock owners should also make sure higher ground is available for their animals.
