The Walla Walla City Council voted Wednesday night 7-0 to put a levy for a new, $8 million aquatic park on the ballot in August.

The proposal suggests raising property taxes by an average of $7.50 a month for a median priced home to fund the construction of the park.

The parks and recreation department and the city council agreed that the park could be built in phases, and space would be saved for a competitive, 50-meter swimming pool to be built when additional funds are raised.
