Walla Walla Council to Decide on Aquatic Park Tonight
The Walla Walla City Council will decide Wednesday night whether or not to put a levy for a new, $8 million aquatic park on the ballot in August.
The proposal suggests raising property taxes by an average of $7.50 a month for a median priced home to fund the construction of the park.
The parks and recreation department and the city council agreed that the park could be built in phases, and space would be saved for a competitive, 50-meter swimming pool to be built when additional funds are raised.
The council has until May 9th to approve the proposal if it were to make the August ballot for a vote by Walla Walla residents.
