Student Government Day

Dozens of high school students from Richland get a head start on their potential careers today.

The city held its 27th annual Student Government Day.

Throughout the morning, students shadowed several city employees to see what it takes to do their jobs.

Students visited the city's public works, human resources, and fire departments.

They say today's tour made them realize how much work goes on behind the scenes of the city.

"I like a challenge. So what I've seen is that this job really is a challenge, and so I think it would be a good field to go into just because if you want something to be challenging, then this is a field that would be really interesting for me to go into" said Lauren Yullmann, who shadowed HR employees.

The students also got to eat lunch with the city leaders when they finished shadowing them.
