Fire departments from all of the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas are training on a house in Kennewick all week to simulate rescue attempts.

The Port of Kennewick donated a house for the exercises that is scheduled to be demolished after the training.

Several firefighters are participating in this year's Rapid Intervention Team training which focuses on rescuing injured firefighters trapped at house fires.

Deputy Chief Marvin Leonard, Kennnewick Fire Department, said this is the best way to get the training needed to help others in the field.

"The realistic side of it is what makes the training so useful, beneficial and valuable." Leonard said. "Makes it priceless, really. We can't get it any other way than to have partners in the community helping us out."

Training is taking place at 1526 East 3rd Avenue in Kennewick.
