Police Search For Suspect In Officer Involved Shooting in Sunnyside

An officer involved shooting in Sunnyside locks down schools in that area this afternoon.
The Sunnyside officer fired at a suspect after the suspect's truck was stopped for an equipment violation on the 300 block of S 11th St. Upon contact a firearm was pointed at the officers and the officer responded with gunfire.
Police say the suspect who pointed a gun at the officer is 28 year old Marcus Torres.
Torres has not yet been apprehended, but others who were in the truck at the time were. Police have refused to confirm the number of others involved.
Several schools in the area were temporarily locked down, and the Washington State Patrol has now taken over the investigation.
All schools are now out of lockdown.
