UPDATE: Eisenhower HS Sophomore Killed in I-90 Car Crash
42-year-old Marita Davis was behind the wheel last night, with three of her children in the car. They were returning from a visit with her mother in Tacoma, when Marita became dizzy while driving eastbound on I-90 near Cle Elum.
She said, "I felt this bumping on the road and then the next thing you know, I woke up and...yeah."
Her daughter 15-year-old Brittany Davis died at the scene.
Brittany's father Daniel Davis said, "I feel hollow inside right now, like something got taken from me, just ripped out of my chest."
Brittany was a sophomore at Eisenhower High School in Yakima. Her father says she loved horses, and playing with her dog.
He said, "she loved her family, she was one of the nicest girls. She never hurt anybody, never did nothing to anybody, would help anybody if she could."
Brittany's classmates say she was one of the smartest girls in school, and interested in Theater.
Sophomore Izzy Krainick said, "she was incredibly sweet, she was such a hard worker, she always turned her work in on time, she was never late. She was just such a great student, and a great friend."
Marita Davis was treated for leg injuries and released from an Ellensburg hospital. Her two other children in the car 6-year-old Jaden and 8-year-old Kaycee were also hospitalized, and are expected to fully recover.
Right now for Marita and Dan, they say they're waiting to wake up from the nightmare that is loss of their daughter.
Marita Davis said, "(She was) a wonderful child, I couldn't have asked for a better one."
Dan Davis added, "I loved her very much, I will always love her."
Eight-year-old Kaycee Davis was transfered to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Kaycee is expected to be released from the hospital by the end of the week.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating, though they say drugs and alcohol were not involved.
