Yakima mail carrier donates $1,400 worth of food to postal food drive

A Yakima postal carrier delivers what may be the largest food donation to the Salvation Army by a single person.

The mail carrier, who wants to remain anonymous, donated $1400 worth of food during the stamp out hunger food drive this weekend. The Salvation Army says around six pallets of food were collected on Saturday-- with one of the pallets being the postal carrier's donation alone.

Organizers hope others will be inspired by the man's generosity.

"It's just a regular person who wants to anonymously help, and I believe what comes out of this will be people inspired to help also, it will be remembered for years," says Major Thomas Morrow.

The Salvation Army says the postal employee also works for a grocery store. Despite the worker's offering, the amount of food collected by postal employees was down this year when compared to last year
