Yakima River Floods Selah Golf Course
A Selah golf course is under water tonight after the Yakima River overflows its banks.
The water made its way to the clubhouse around eleven last night, according to the owner. He says the basement is full of mud now, and workers are using a pump to remove the water.
Flood waters are surrounding other nearby buildings, and it will take some time to repair the golf course. The owner says today's flooding isn't as bad as a previous flood back in january.
"We were, one thing better prepared for this, because we knew it was coming, we had plenty of warning," says River Ridge Golf Course owner Dean Laurvick.
The owner expects damage from today's flood to cost him about six thousand dollars. Authorities say the Yakima River is now receding, but in Kittitas County, emergency management is keeping tabs on the river for possible log jams.
