Ellensburg Woman Named ESD 105 Teacher of the Year

An Ellensburg woman is named regional 'Teacher of the Year' in South Central Washington. The award was given to Tracey Schepman at the Educational Service District 105 office in Yakima. ESD 105 includes schools from Sunnyside to Easton. Tracey is a second grade teacher at Valley View Elementary in Ellensburg.

She's taught at the school for 17 years, and says she gets up every day excited to see her students.

Tracey says teaching is more than just a job, "because I feel called to it. I feel like I never had any other choice. This is how it is and this is how it was always going to be. So for me, it's a calling more than a career."

Tracey is now up for state 'Teacher of the Year.'

She'll represent ESD 105 during that announcement September 27th in Seattle.
