V.F.W. building in Yakima catches fire

The Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Yakima says it will rebuild its club damaged by fire at the same location.
Post 379 commander Leo Wright says the building on Fifth Avenue is still structurally sound.
Last month a rat chewed through an electric wire and set the club on fire.
It caused more than one million dollars in damages.
Veterans also lost irreplaceable war memorabilia.
How quickly the club is rebuilt depends on the V.F.W.'s insurance company.
"We just have to go from there and see what the insurance company is going to do for us. If they don't come up with some money, we won't be able to rebuild cause we don't have the money to rebuild with," says Wright.
Wright says asbestos must also be removed from the building before construction can begin.
Rebuilding the club may take at least nine months.
For now the veterans are using donated space for offices and meeting places.
