Former Police Captain To Fight Demotion
A Yakima police captain says he'll fight his demotion to sergeant.
The lawyer for former captain Rod Light says the demotion comes after an internal investigation into Light's past relationships with two female subordinates.
Bill Pickett believes the demotion is retaliation, and Light was targeted after reporting misconduct at the Yakima Police Athletic League in 2005.
Pickett says the results of the investigation into light's relationships are incorrect.
"The city was well aware of these relationships before this issue, they had taken no action, and that their attempt now to bring this up is retaliation, period, and he intends to fight them," says Pickett.
Light has been on paid leave since March. He'll return as a sergeant next week.
